Pathways is a tool within ePACK designed to guide you through essential career development tasks. We get it—students are BUSY! With so many responsibilities beyond career development, we’ve made it easier to tackle these tasks.

Whether you’re crafting a resume, writing a cover letter, or preparing for a job or internship search, Pathways provides clear, step-by-step instructions to make these tasks more approachable and manageable.

Purpose of Pathways

Career Development Pathways were designed with all students in mind, particularly those who experience executive functioning (EF) challenges. 

Executive functions are the skills we use to plan, organize, and complete tasks. 

By intentionally supporting these skills, Pathways aim to help every student initiate, work through, and successfully complete career development activities.

Pathways break down tasks to support key executive functions, making career development accessible to all:

  • Decision-Making: Offers suggestions and options to guide you, reducing the mental load and potential distractions involved in making decisions.
  • Organization: Provides a clear, logical sequence to follow for each task, so you always know what to do next.
  • Planning and Setting Priorities: Focuses on the essential information needed to complete each task, helping you prioritize effectively.
  • Getting Started and Completing Tasks: Breaks tasks into smaller, manageable steps, requiring minimal to moderate effort and time. This structure helps build confidence and motivation.
  • Monitoring Progress: Allows you to track your progress by checking off each step as you complete it, keeping you motivated and on track.
  • Work at Your Own Pace: Engage with your career development tasks whenever and wherever you feel most comfortable.
  • Maximize Career Counseling Sessions: Arrive at career counseling sessions prepared and focused, allowing for deeper and more effective discussions.
  • Clear, Structured Guidance: Follow organized steps to ensure you’re completing all necessary tasks, without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Stay on Track with Reminders: Receive helpful reminders if you haven’t checked off a task in a while, keeping you motivated and on schedule.
  1. Login to your ePACK account at: go.ncsu.edu/epack
  2. Go to the Resources tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click on Pathways
  4. Select which Pathway you would like to explore
  5. Select “Start” to begin the Pathway
